Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450 g) potato gnocchi
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 8 fresh sage leaves
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Optional: a squeeze of lemon juice
  • Optional: chopped fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Cook the gnocchi in boiling salted water until they float to the surface, about 2-3 minutes. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat until it begins to foam and turn golden.
  3. Add the sage leaves to the butter and cook for about 1 minute until they become crispy and release their aroma.
  4. Gently add the cooked gnocchi to the skillet, tossing to coat them evenly with the sage-infused butter.
  5. Cook for another 2-3 minutes, allowing the gnocchi to toast slightly and absorb the flavors.
  6. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
  7. Remove from heat and sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese. For an extra zing, add a squeeze of lemon juice if desired.
  8. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley before serving if using.
