Ingredients
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1 cup Italian seasoned bread crumbs
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 cup marinara sauce
- 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh basil leaves (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Pat the chicken breasts dry and season them with salt, pepper, and dried oregano.
- Set up a breading station with three shallow dishes: flour, beaten eggs, and bread crumbs mixed with Parmesan cheese.
- Dredge each chicken breast in flour, then dip into beaten eggs, and coat thoroughly with the breadcrumb mixture.
- Heat olive oil in a large ovenproof skillet over medium-high heat. Add breaded chicken and cook until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- Pour marinara sauce over the chicken breasts and sprinkle evenly with shredded mozzarella cheese.
- Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Garnish with fresh basil leaves, if desired, and serve hot with pasta or vegetables.
