Ingredients

  • 1 lb beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup beef broth or water
  • 1 tsp sesame oil (optional)
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar (optional)
  • 1 tsp sugar (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine soy sauce, oyster sauce, cornstarch, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Add the sliced beef and marinate for 10-15 minutes.
  2. Meanwhile, blanch the broccoli in boiling water for 2 minutes until bright green and slightly tender. Drain and set aside.
  3. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the marinated beef and stir-fry until browned, about 2-3 minutes. Remove beef from the pan and set aside.
  4. In the same pan, add another tablespoon of oil if needed. Add minced garlic and grated ginger, sauté until fragrant, about 30 seconds.
  5. Add the broccoli to the pan and stir-fry for another 2 minutes, allowing it to soak up the flavors.
  6. Return the beef to the pan. Pour in the beef broth or water, and stir to combine. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly.
  7. If using, drizzle with sesame oil and rice vinegar for extra flavor. Taste and adjust with salt, pepper, or sugar as desired.
  8. Serve immediately over steamed rice or noodles, garnished with sesame seeds or chopped green onions if desired.
